Another year has come and gone, which means it is time for our Forth harvest of this delicious Gesha. This year boasts lots of sweet caramel with orange blossom floridity. Grab yourself a bag and enjoy the four year journey we've been on with this coffee!
We planted seeds of Gesha in an area of our friend's farm (Fazenda Sao Jose da Boa Vista) where they grow their other experimental and high quality variety. They cared for these plants meticulously. Fazenda Sao Jose da Boa Vista has a dedicated agronomist who does soil studies and addresses the nutrition of these plants separately from everything else we do at the farm.
Our Gesha cherries were picked at the peak of their ripeness by hand, with 3-4 separate passes. They dried on raised beds, piled and covered overnight, and open to the mild Winter sun in Brazil for about 6-8 hours each day.
Many in the coffee industry were skeptical of the suitability of the Brazilian terroir for producing high quality varietals such as Gesha. The cultivation of Gesha in Brazil is extremely limited and exclusive at this point, we are proud to be not only one of the few pioneering the growing and processing of the variety on our farm but
